Pre-Columbian Spondylus Beads - Peru

These are rare beautiful spondylus pre-columbian beads from the Chimu Civilization of Peru. The shells of the spiny oyster were highly revered among indigenous cultures in the Americas with trading of the highly prized beads and shells extending into Chile as well as North America. These ancient disc shaped beads, temporarily strung on nylon, have beautiful variations of color ranging from browns and purples to intense orange and have a wonderful carved spondylus pendant piece.
