19th c. Excavated Bronze Shan Devotees

This is a wonderful pair of bronze Devotees, or Monks, that were excavated in the Shan States of Burma. The Buddha's attendants, from the 19th century or earlier, are in the devotional kneeling position with offerings in their laps and would have been placed on either side of a central Buddha image. Remnants of the original gilding are present and the bronze has a beautiful patina from years of burial.

Measurements: 2 5/8" (6.6 cm)
