Fine Early 19th Century Wood Ayutthaya Buddha

This is an exquisite example of a 19th century Thai wood Ayutthaya Buddha. The figure is finely carved, covered in black and red lacquer, and with almost all of the 24k gold leaf still in tact. The Buddha has a wonderful face with a finely carved finial and hair, and is in the mudra of bhumisparsa, also known as the "touching the earth" posture, or the moment of enlightenment. The base is superb and exemplifies the distinctive tiered Ayutthaya style.

Measurements: 9.25" high including custom base
