Antique Spanish Colonial Madonna Head Santo

This is a beautifully carved Spanish colonial figure depicting the Virgin Mary, or Madonna. The Virgin's head would have been attached to a carved body at one time, evidence of the peg & hole attachment is evident from the existing hole at the bottom. The 2 holes at the base of the neck may have been to stabilize the figure if she was presented on an altar or high wall, as she is looking slightly down. The hole at the top of her head would have one time graced a silver crown, now lost to time. The expressive Madonna has minimal loss of paint and is a beautiful devotional figure.

Measurements: 6 1/2" high
