Antique Spanish Colonial Leather Gun Rig and Holster

This is a beautiful and rare old holster belt, or rig, from the gaucho culture in Southern Bolivia near Argentina. These types of holsters were used primarily by wealthy ranchers and businessmen who could afford fine horses and elaborate costumes. This tradition dates back to the Spanish land grants and estancias of the colonists. The leather is a dark brown/black natural cowhide with the addition of elaborate silver detailing as well as the central large religious sacred heart milagro, ex voto, inscribed with the initials R S. There are stamps into the back side of the buckle, undoubtedly whomever created the holster. The rig is in beautiful used condition with only one of the florettes missing to time. This is an amazing and beautiful treasure from South America!
