Antique Spanish Colonial Crucifix Sacred Hearts

This is a rare pair of 19th century silver sacred hearts intended for a large church crucifix. The sacred hearts are formed to represent clusters of grapes, symbolic reminders of the Eucharistic sacrifice of Christ's body and blood. The large hearts are formed from high content silver in beautiful high relief. There is a reference photo and description for a pair of similar (18th century) hearts in the book Splendors of the New World - Spanish Colonial Masterpieces. This is a rare find for any collection of Spanish Colonial devotional art.
