Old Spanish Colonial Angels

This is a wonderful carving of angels circa 1950's from South America. This unique plaque is beautifully carved from wood with the faces gessoed and beautifully painted (the back is not painted). The addition of the beautiful glass eyes makes this a wonderful treasure.  The angels most likely adorned a wall at one time, perhaps a chapel. The angels are in good condition, with minor crazing and slight abrasions to the face, expected with age. They truly have sweet faces and a beautiful presence.
